A carefully paced sequence of movements to develop physical conditioning and locomotor skills
Activities presented through different genres of music
Children learn self-discipline, listening skills, coordination skills, left/right discrimination and patterns in movement
Class enhances self-confidence and a joy for moving
More about the class.........Creative Movement classes are designed to introduce children to the idea of expressing themselves through movement. The creative movement lesson plans work with young children’s natural enthusiasm, short attention spans and high energy levels to explore basic concepts of dance and creativity.
A typical class will begin with warm-up of the body (stretching, etc.) Children learn basic age-appropriate skills such as bunny hops, gallops, skips, etc. We use fun, age-appropriate songs such as "Roar Like A Lion", or "Under the Sea" to combine the movement we learn into a structured dance. We may use props such as a scarf to "act like a butterfly" or "buzz like a bee". Children will learn how to dance to all different types of music (slow, fast, soft, loud, etc.) At the end of class, we cool-down. Creative Movement is a perfect introduction to many styles of dance for young children.
